هل تعلم ماذا يحدث في دارفور ؟؟؟؟؟!!!!!!

Join Our Hope for Darfur Campaign CreditsSoon There Will Be No One Left to Protect in दारफुर
We're looking for at least 200,000* caring people to stand in for the victims of mass atrocities in Darfur – and to help us to build a lasting peace in western Sudan. When you sign up, you will join 34,357others who are representing an individual victim who has been killed, harmed or displaced in Darfur. An Important Step Toward Peace Last November, we presented a petition to outgoing UN General-Secretary Kofi Annan – with 32,000 signatures – calling for him to appoint a Special Envoy for Darfur. We are encouraged to report that on Decemeber 18, Secretary-General Annan heard this call and appointed former Swedish Foreign Minister Jan Eliasson as Special Envoy to Sudan. (Click here for more on Eliasson's mandate.) While we welcome the appointment of Jan Eliasson as Special Envoy, our work is by no means done. As Human Rights First Executive Director Maureen Byrnes said in a statement: To make this appointment a real turning point, the Special Envoy must use all his experience and stature to press the Sudanese government directly to fulfill its existing international obligations. He must persuade all parties to the crisis to engage in a meaningful and representative political process. He must also ensure that the U.S., the EU, China, Russia, and members of the Arab League are all effectively engaged in resolving the conflict. Finally, Mr. Eliasson will also have sanctions and other measures at his disposal, and he must stand ready to use them if Khartoum’s intransigence continues. --> We hope that you will join Human Rights First in working with the international community to ensure that Mr. Eliasson's mission as Special Envoy succeeds and that a process for securing a lasting peace in Darfur is realized. *Why 200,000? The international community has not agreed on a number of those killed in the slaughter in Darfur — estimates range from 180,000 to 400,000। The New York Times reported the number 200,000 in March 2006. More than two million people have been displaced from their homes.
